Under the leadership of their chaplain, pastor Albert Girardet, and in a great upsurge of fervour, they decided to erect a house \u201cfor Youth, Church and Country\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>As in all good stories, the place, far away from villages and with no access road, was discovered by the eldest son of chaplain Albert Girardet \u2013 who was leading the project \u2013 during a Sunday walk. After climbing to the top of the cr\u00eat b\u00e9rard, he exclaimed: \u201cIt&#8217;s here!\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t    <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t        \t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"clean_history_arcio\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"arcio_year\">\u201cIt&#8217;s here!\u201d<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t        \t\t\t        \t\t\t<div class=\"history_content_wrapper his_panel_ed1\">\n\t        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t    <div class=\"left_his_pic\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t        <div class=\"common_his_pic\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cret-berard.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Historique-2.jpg\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t        <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t    <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t    <div class=\"right_his_text\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"hist_content_main\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"his_date\">Summer 1949<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"his_content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Construction began during <strong>the summer of 1949<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> Thousands of young people from the canton worked on the site until September <strong>1953<\/strong>, when the first building was inaugurated. The owner of a quarry just above Sainte-Croix donated the stone that was carved by specialists to give the building the appearance of a neo-Romanesque monastery in warm hues. The architect was <strong>Claude Jaccottet<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p> The first resident, pastor <strong>Charles Nicole-Debarge<\/strong>, imprinted his style on the house: he set up the three daily offices, the training and seminars, the evenings around a campfire, the Advent fires with their horse riders, etc.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t    <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t        \t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"organization_cont_wrapper modernizer-wrapper\"><h3>organisation<\/h3>\n<p>From the beginning, Cr\u00eat-B\u00e9rard was organised as a private foundation. The institution is led by a pastor whose stipend is covered by the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Vaud. This Church sits on the Foundation board together with the Vaud State, thus reflecting the determination for collaboration and integration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t        \t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"enorga_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"enep_pic\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cret-berard.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Historique-3-3.jpg\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"enep_content\"><h4>september 1983<\/h4>\n<p>In <strong>September 1983<\/strong>, while pastor <strong>Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Deppierraz<\/strong> was resident, the second stage of building was completed, with a dining room separate from the main hall and a new kitchen. Once more, blueprints were drawn up by<strong> Claude Jaccottet<\/strong>. From then on, the Cr\u00eat-B\u00e9rard house possessed its ideal dimension and the desired accommodation capacity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n        \t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\n    \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t        \t\t        \t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"organization_cont_wrapper modernizer-wrapper\"><h3>modernisation<\/h3>\n<p>Pastor <strong>Pierre-Andr\u00e9 Pouly<\/strong> developed the activities, modernised and insulated the building, and surrounded himself with a team of professionals to welcome guests and ensure the house\u2019s smooth running.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor <strong>Alain Monnard<\/strong> is resident since <strong>2013<\/strong>.
